With nearly 92,000 veterans in the city of Chicago alone, public and private sector leaders in Illinois are experienced at supporting the veteran and military community, and the result has been a drop in post-9/11 veteran unemployment. But even in times of low unemployment, veterans, transitioning service members and spouses are always in need of additional support in their efforts to find a new job or find a better job.
On Thursday, Nov. 5, Chicago area veterans and spouses have the opportunity to attend a Hiring Our Heroes Job Expo with more than 50 companies who are looking to hire, hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation in partnership with the Chicago Bulls and sponsors Aon and BP America.
All pre-registered veteran and military spouse attendees are eligible to receive up to two free tickets to attend that evening’s basketball game between the Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The event will be held at the United Center, 1901 W. Madison St., and will begin with an employment workshop for attendees at 8:30 a.m., focusing on resume-building, job search tools and interview techniques for all jobseekers, followed by the hiring fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
